Old vines located on the southern end of the Eola-Amity Hills AVA with wide-spaced rows recalls another era of Oregon viticulture. This spacing allows a cooling coastal breeze to flow through the vineyard for a long growing season. Whole-cluster pressed, the juice handled oxidatively, and fermented and aged in small concrete vessels, this Chardonnay has bright natural acidity and minerality.

Hirschy Vineyard is located in the heart of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. At 400 feet elevation, the vines are planted surrounding an iconic barn that is visible from miles away. The blocks that Amaterra works with are due-south exposure and this, combined with the Willakenzie soils, lead to dark-fruited and well-structured wines.

Carlton Hill is located on the western side of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA. A croquet enthusiast, grower David Polite planted the vineyard’s first vines in 1999. This east-facing vineyard is comprised of four clones of Pinot Noir. Amaterra sources each of the clones, which are individually fermented and aged, allowing our winemaking team to craft a cuvée that expresses the best of each vintage.

Destiny Ridge Vineyard has sandy soils on the north side of the Columbia River, east of where the rugged Gorge begins to round out. This location receives constant wind and is perched several hundred feet above the river. The combination of soil and windy conditions keeps the canopy of the vineyard short and leads to concentrated, thick-skinned Cabernet Sauvignon berries. We ferment in small lots and vary the treatments to tease out complexity from the fruit. One tank was pressed at dryness, and the other was allowed to rest on the skins for a 45-day extended maceration. This approach retains the dark berry and spicy fruit flavors while layering in considerable texture that allows this wine to age gracefully for many years.

Tiny berried Petit Verdot grown in the rugged soils of the Northern side of the Yakima Valley. This varietal is late-ripening and a challenge in the winery to make in a gentle way. With patience, we intentionally craft this wine with gentle handling to reveal a fruit-driven blend with soft extraction, and an accent of oak spice to balance. This will be unlike any Petit Verdot you may have had, with big aromas of dark berry, dried fruit, raisin, and floral notes, and a palate of blackberry, bramble, and dark cherry. While the color is purple and dark, the texture is surprisingly round and soft. Pair this wine with braised short ribs in a rich sauce.

An intentional field blend of varietals grown in warmer viticultural sites intended to express ripe fruit aromatics and flavors. This is a rich style but maintains the bright acidity and dryness that is a signature of 51Weeks Winemaking rosé. In the spirit of how our winery dog, Champ, greets visitors with a bâton, we suggest you welcome your guests with a glass of ‘Bâton de Champ’!
